MA 114 (Introduction to Finite Math) has been offered as an online course at NCSU since the fall semester of 1997. During that period, more than 5,000 students have taken the class.

The online section of MA 114 was also one of the first math classes in the world to use WebAssign as the primary tool for homework and tests (starting in 1998).

The homework for this class is accessed via webassign.ncsu.edu. Information about WebAssign is provided at the WebAssign tab at the top of this page. Once an assignment has appeared in your list of current WebAssignments, WebAssign will show you the due date for the assignment. The way to stay on schedule in this class is to monitor your list of current WebAssignments regularly. There are no surprises. Most assignments, except for a few at the beginning of the semester, allow a week or more for completion of the assignment.)

There's also a Google calendar for the entire semester (available via the Calendar tab at the top of this page). This shows the window for each homework assignment, test, and the final exam, as well as other information like holidays. So a glance at the Google calendar can show you what assignments will be available to you on each day of the semester.

Instructional videos for this course may be viewed full screen at either the NCSU website or at YouTube. The course is divided into six parts, and the videos for each part are found via the links in the right sidebar.

Important: All university correspondence to students uses students' NCSU e-mail addresses. So it is essential that you check your NCSU mail account. All your currently scheduled homework assignments are found at WebAssign once the semester begins, and class news is found at the News tab (at the top of most pages). Short news blurbs will appear under "News Briefs" in the right sidebar.
